Wellcome to La Cornamusa (The Cleat)

IN THE SHIPYARD

20 new photos of the making of The Mayflower.. It was an old project I had in mind, which I think will be a bit difficult, as it’s not a kit, but just a set of plans I got from the internet some years ago. Here, you can see photos of the building processs.

Finished!

This diorama has been in the shipyard for many years (not because of its difficulty, but for other reasons). At last, after a long time, I’ve finished a new diorama: a scale model of  Leonardo da Vinci’s Swinging Bridge.. I hope you’ll like it

My latest model

After some months, I’ve just finished one of the vessels from the fleet of Queen Hatshepsut, Pharaoh of Egypt.,

The author

It was in 1994 when, with the help of a very good friend, I got to the world of ship modelling. Since then I have built 16 ships, some dioramas, and other models. On this site you can see all models I’ve built, with their technical specifications, photos of completed models, and in many cases, photos of the construction processes, as well as some other interesting facts about the ships built. Some ships (the first ones) were made using the ordinary kits there are in the shops, others are personal designs from photos or drawings -some by the author, some from the net.

A bit of history

The layout you are watching now is the third this site has. In 2003 I made my first try into the world of web design and decided to upload some photos of the models I had made so far. A very simple welcome screen let you in, so that you could get into a list of photos which I called “The Shipyard”. Two years later, after having learnt by my own some html and php code, I designed and uoloaded a much more complete version.. As the number of visits was growing (so were my model ships) I prepared a deeper remodelation of the site, paying special attention to the visual issues. That version of la cornamusa was on the net for six years. And hehe we are.. The need of a more functional site, which could take adventage of the characteristics of blogs, has made me use WordPress as a CMS. After many months studying possibilities, testing themes (even designing one), I have finally uploaded this latest -not last- version. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Hi Peter. Thanks for your gentle comment. Well, if you want to buy some kits… it depends on where you live. Why don’t you try “googling”? You may find something.

    Hola Juan,
    Saludos.
    Francisco
