This model is not a normal kit, but in a way it is. When I was building the 19th century Menorcan Shipyard I liked the drawing on the wall of the ship they were building, so I decided to make a duplicate of the tiny image, and enlarged it to build this beautiful ‘xabeq’.

Model built from the diorama plans “19th century shipyard” and the only photo of the finished boat that decorates the wall.
The idea came after completing the shipyard. I thought it would be interesting to show, not only the place where these ships were built, but the finished work.
For the inner hull I used the lay out of the Jábega, since the only photograph I had access to only showed a side view. Later I have been able to verify that it is actually slightly different (maybe I will make another one in the future that will reproduce the boat more faithfully).

The main difficulty was that she only had the frames and a 4 x 3 cm photo, so I had to give her some imagination and do some research for the design of the cover.
